Memoirs of a movement

A new web verse (first two bars are borrowed from Alpha) chronicling the first year formation of the C-4 Movement. This is a call to action and a trip down memory lane. If you are or ever were involved with what we do, please read, you might catch a flashback. Names and Landmarks are in CAPS. Enjoy

"Life keeps coming, the Mic keeps running
and I might see something if I stay here for Longer"
So should I chase the Mic and race on...
Or hit the brakes tonight?

It started off: pen and a pad with a pipe dream
never knew i'd be redeemed by three beings who beamed bright
at nineteen minus one,
where some might say life's begun...
Mine was a rut.
The like dreams played the catalyst to catapult
a catatonic soul to revolt, enter the antidote.
I went from Manic depressed
to Man in control...
when i would stand at the mic and ALPHA hit record.
The opposites attracted, we hit the campus
runnin' cyphers on the unispan- gettin daps
from passer-byes who patted backs,
had a laugh, staggered, dropped their bags: the circle fattened,
they couldn't pass- of course it didn't matter,
academics were an after thought
and after math class, caught a fat bag
for the crack it caused - rapper's gravitas,
then had to call up SHOTS
'yo blooodclott, you tryna burn?'
'go grab a blunt.'
Then walk to CITGO- before the tobacco tax
deaded the dollar dutch,
that shit was so wack (wasn't it?).
right past the NETHERLANDS,
we had to strike a FUSE,
and if he wasn't at work
Of course we hit DELUCIA.
We'd grab a couple brews
cuz homie never carded
and lookin back on my shutgunning habit,
I'm lucky I ain't retarded
I'm lucky i'm not an alcoholic-
at least i'm not now, but back then...
Different story.

Proceed to HQ - ELEVEN SIXTEEN
ESTAmos listos (BROOK) to twist the CALI GREEN,
of course the master of rolling was DUH DUH NYCE one
but if it ever came up, you knew a fight was coming.
We used to fight for nothing
GIO was tone deaf- making everyone scream
until we'd light it up
and then the zone set...Yes,
Those hundred Pieces were something sweet, and...
That DUCT TAPE worked fucking great-
it kept the skunk in and the fuzz away,
except for a couple days.
We put in work every way you could imagine
Public Safety sneak attacks-
CONCEP, he shouted 'Grab It!'
'you couldn't understand'
you'd fail to fathom-
cats were out in a flash
down a level relaxin.
Yeah, that's when it happened...
We picked our pads up,
and penned a classic.
It said to think it again before you acted,
and it was easy to preach but hard to practice...
Remember when I got blasted after Talib?
I battled Drastic, and... I got my ass beat,
but COREY told me: "This too will pass, we got the magic."

yeah, Yeah WEB, we got the Magic
Grill em' GOOGIE, good God! we got the magic
Cook em' CRILLS, crikey! we got the magic the magic
Get at 'em APLHA, you know we got the magic!

We knew it too, we hit the stu
and drew a CONSTITUTION,
we grew and grew with every tune
we saw the Movement bloom.
No convolution with highfalutin students,
the island kids-entitled,
driving daddy's viper spent their parent's loot.
Apparently along the way,
they learned they're better than you...
Cuz they won't ever pay a loan
and they would never get sued, then lose.
We separated from tools,
and kept a tether tucked-
into our humble wallets
to remember the TRUTH.
We kept them in our back pockets,
in hopes we never lost it,
as we pursued it..
Except, of course SHOTTA,
see he'd always lose his,
in-fact, bet he still does
but don't get confused, he's no fool.
It doesn't matter, that's material shit,
my Brother man is a spiritual mystic,
inherent to wisdom, i swear it
you should hear when we drift,
MY PEOPLE, think how many spirits we'd lift up...
Yeah, i'm sayin, think how many spirits we'd lift up...
I mean, think how many spirits we WILL lift,
some real shit!
My Brothers, we got a real gift,
and we knew it way back
when we used to say CRACK
and we used to spit to just spit,
remember the flows?
no style about it,
no rhyme or reason.
Now we some iron chefs
fat rhymes with seasoning...
We rock Mics but remember that first show?
The first Video post by MEAGHAN MALON- E-Y(why)
was GIO the only recorded? It didn't matter,
that was such an important moment it got us going
it made us go IN, and
we'd only grow from there...
The core got stronger,
gained more power:
GRIZZLE GRAZZ joined the ranks with FRANK FLOWERS,
of course CAKE DA GREEK and all the KAPPA boys,
we were getting loud as hell
but we could back the noise.

And this was freshmen year,
we spent finals week
In BOBBY BACK SMACK A BITCH's basement
We used acid pro -
before the Pro tools,
double duty tracks per night
for each the seven days.
And that was basically the basis,
solidified, we laid the foundation.
Now it's five years later -
three mixtapes, too many shows to count
we're still chasing.
Oh yeah, I graduated in May,
of OH Nine, no time like the present to take..
The reigns, and stake claim
as the future's portrait lays blank...
Think, aim and paint.
Place flame to range-
we'll see our pots boil yet
and shouts to my Sloppy Boy HEFF
HEFFBAH oh yes Gods,
we're onto something special
we got the motor running,
now we scoot like Vespa.
So this is Roll Call,
a little reminisce,
for all the new cats
and old heads amiss...
I'm thinking YONI, BENNY KRILLS and KEVIN...
It's BENWAY too long but we remember.
Two thousand ten is here, let us commence again
we've got a strong head wind and plenty to vent
so if you're moving with us then Get Ready!
cuz it's the MOVEMENT BITCH,
C-4EVER

peace and love
